Wow! What a relief to know I am not alone in this. I have suffered from episodic clusters for about 24 years now since about the age of 13. When they stop I usually have about 1-2 years without them. Fortunately in the last few years I have found that I can get some relief with imitrex.
I have a couple questions and maybe someone has some answers.
1. I have recently heard that the company that makes imitrex has a new drug out that works as well as imitrex but without alot of the side effects that come with imitrex. Has anyone else heard this? If so, any idea what the name of the drug is?
2. I have been able to pinpoint very few triggers when it comes to clusters. Alcohol is a definite trigger for me as well as some drugs. Since I am clean & sober now (I've been in recovery for about 15 months) these are no longer an issue. Has anyone discovered any other things that are definite triggers for them?
3. What about cigarettes? Any smokers out there who have cut down or quit and found it makes a difference?
Look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to share their experience.
