Here are my thoughts about your questions. I have no idea what this drug is that acts like Imitrex but with-out the side affects. Maybe someone else knows, and I'd be interested to know what it is. I used to drink occasionally and would get my regular headaches whether I drank or not. It made no difference one way or the other. Since I am chronic and get many H.A. every day, I just figure an occasional glass of wine with dinner won't do me any harm. I also smoke and have tried to stop but can't. People on this board who HAVE managed to stop, tell us there is no difference on that subject either. Stop smoking because it is unhealthy. Don't stop in the mistaken idea that this will stop your headaches. I am very glad you found this site. It's been a life-saver for me and for others. Linda Howell
