Everything begins in the brain.
The sympathetic nervous system, involuntary reflexes, hypertension, everything has a cerebral component.
So although I agree with your friend Dr. Goadsby ( who charged me $90 for a book of his that contained nothing but copy and pasted studies done by others ) that the hypothalmus is a key component his so-called revelation that the "brain" is involved in clusters, adds nothing , in my humble opinion, to the study of clusters.
I will give you an analogy ( I hate analogies ). It is as if somebody said that they have found the secret to sexual pleasure. That it is not really derived from the engorgement of our sexual organs with blood and manipulation of said parts but rather a function of brain activity ( YAWN ).
No shit Sherlock.
So in conclusion let me say this:
Me and Dr. Goadsby disagree. I am also absolutely sure that he doesn't give a shit what I think. That is ok with me. :-)
The brain is involved in all activities.
Bob P does not really have a problem with flatulence he really has a problem with his Autonomic Nervous System which persists in releasing gases even when it causes great embarassment - like the time he had to give that speech, and then there was that time when he was trying to impress his new secretary, and then.....
