There has been some discussion, in the chat room, among us lowly members as to whether or not Vancouver is the right place to hold next years convention. With apologies to our Canadian members, and my dear new friends, Warren and Bonnie, here are some of the points aired:
1. Cost of air tickets from most USA airports is really high.
2. Not a centralised location, therefore a bloody long hike for a greater part of us.
3. Validity of holding convention in another country, when OUCH is a US organisation, with the greatest secondary support from the UK. If the convention is to be held overseas, then why not consider Britain, combining with OUCH UK. Airfares there are most probably cheaper than to Canada. (I have flown round trip for under $300.)
Personally, I think we should try to centralise in the USA as much as possible.
These, and any other thoughts need to be discussed and presented to the comittee. My apologies to them also. It is not my intention to 'rock the boat', merely to try to help us all achieve the greatest accessability to OUCH 2002 thereby having the largest possible attendance and growth.
