I've been using a combination of 1000mg calcium citrate/500mg magnesium (6 caps a day give this total amount). Have found it necessary to reduce to 5 caps/day because getting bit too loose.
Have not found medical literature specific to its use with cluster but I understand that this treatment has been used in Europe for migraine with some success.
At the same time, I've been using vitamin B-2, 400mg/day because of some anecdotal reports that it may prevent CH.
This isn't good "science" to run two prevention trials at the same time--mag and B-2--but it's nice to report that I haven't had a cluster in 20-months!

It would be a good approach to start the mag at 100mg/day and increase by 100mg/day. Your body will immediately signal you when you reach the optimum dose--diarrhea--then cut back to a comfortable dose.
I'm using a calcium/mag combination, 1000mg calcium citrate with 500mg mag. I also understand this combination is needed for proper uptake.
I haven't read anything about how long to take it. Assume that it would be indefinitely if our body is deficit in magnesiu, but it would also be possible to do trials without it every few months.
