My husband suffers from CHs. Went to the neuro the other day and here are some of the suggestions he wants my husband to try. My husband has had CHs since he was in elementary school so I don't totally agree with the drinking/smoking thing. Does anyone find any links with these 4 things?
No caffeine - get off of it totally.
No food preservatives (yeah right).
No smoking - doesn't smoke anyway.
No alcohol - rarely drinks anyway.
Doctor also wants him to get the blood pressure checked - may be a prevention to cluster headaches (huh?). His BP in the office was 190/110. But I'm assuming it may have been because he's been taking so much Imitrex and Prednisone for the CHs. Made a family doctor appt to check BP anyway.
Please answer what is in the Imitrex shots that helps relieve his terrible pain in ~20 minutes. Can't it be put into some type of medication that he can take on a regular basis (or whenever the cycle begins). He had 4 attacks this past Saturday. He's back on Prednisone - he's so worn out and looks terrible.
