My heart goes out to you. I've been chronic for only 13 months and don't know how folks cope with years under their belt. I have been on a medical leave (long term disability) for the last 3 months. It was a hassle getting that.
Obtaining social security benefits is even more difficult. A lawyer (roommate during a recent hospitalization) told me that she receives SS benefits. She said that you need an attorney to walk you through the process, as you will always be rejected initially. It is a challenging/ frustrating process. She was disabled for migraines, not even clusters. Bottom line, don't give up. I hope you have a doc who supports you.... good luck in trying to curb the beast.
