I would take 1 tablet two times a day. I take two 240mg time-released a day. I also drink my cold beer while taking this medication. I've been doing it for 13 years and I'm not dead yet, but alcohol does trigger a cluster attack. I am not a doctor and you should always be cautious while mixing alcohol and drugs. This will be a decision you alone will have to make.
Good luck with the Verapamil.
P.S. Never mix alcohol with lithium, it will make you deathly sick! (I found out the hard way).
