Hi folks, this is my 1st posting, just found site yesterday and am ecstatic. I live in Western NY without easy access to headache specialists, and for 26 years of CH's have had to rely on occaisional snippets of info from pharmacists, general practitioners etc. Luckily for me, someone told me about oxygen about 8 years ago, and it works fairly well if started soon enough, but does nothing to prevent.
I read through much of the site yesterday, and decided to try Verapamil. I got 100 80mg tablets and plan on starting at 240mg per day. Should I take them all at one time, or space them out thru the day? Any concerns about drinking beer while on this? I love my happy hour beers, but they guarantee a CH. I've had slightly high blood pressure lately, so thought if this works I could kill 2 birds with one pill.
Things I've tried in past: sansert worked for a couple years, but then quit. Standing on my head seemed to work occaisionally, but my wife thought I was crazy. I tried Zomig with last years bout, and thought it may have held a few off, but with this current bout, they don't do a thing.
I'd appreciate any info or warnings that anyone may have on Verapamil, meanwhile I'm keeping my temporal arteries crossed!
Glad you folks are here, and thanks in advance.
Peter from Allegany NY
