~Hi everyone~
I have been a Migraines/CH for more than 10 yrs.Have tried Indocin,Inderal,Cafergot, Depokote, Fiorinol, Elavil, Sansert,Tegretol,Lithium,Ergostat, Imitrex inj and the Nasal spray, Amerge, Migrainal, Prednisone and Oxygen.
I am allergic to aspirin, Codiene, Darvon, Demeral,Percodan,Vicodin, Imitrix, Stadol Nasal spray, Ultran, Versed. For CH relief I have been limited to Motrin 800mg and Xanax. I am having CH's 6-8 times a day since mid-May and have not worked since May 27. When I don't have a CH, I always have a shadow HA. I don't drink or smoke and try to eat regular meals. My primary finally referred me to a Neurologist, who I saw today. A far as diagnotic testing goes MRI/CAT scans are out of the question- last i developed a slow hrt rythum (bradycardia) at age 40, I needed a pacemaker. And I thought the chest pain was a broken heart from a former love!! Anyway it was suggested I try the Depokote agian and increase the dosage gradually to 1000-2000 mg a day.I am also rather petite at 5'3" and 125#--does this sound like a lot for someone my size? He also performed an Occipital Nerve block. Has anyone ever had one of these?? The Neuro said that a well known DR Ruskin has done research re: these nerve blocks for HA's. he injected a combo of solumedrol and zylocaine into a sensitive area in my neck. No pain at that time--but after 3-4 hrs I developed a migraine. And not having any fun at all! I can just hardly wait til my nightly onset of CH begins. He also told me I may need a series of these injections ervery 3-4 weeks to "reset" my nervous system. I am very sorry for the length of this msg--but I need to know if anyone has tried this and if it is worth it. Please I am getting so discouraged.
