Amazing to find ch.com. Mine started 1997. I thought it was my teeth first. The pain started in my right upper teeth and shot to my temple. It was agony. Headaches every night, always starting at 10 pm. I only got relief from Advil. Three dentists later, I was referred for a CT of the sinus; it was abnormal. I was referred to an ENT by my primary care physician (PCP), he did some clearing of sinus and an outpatient. Headaches did not go away. He did outpatient surgery, headaches went away for one night--the first night ever without them in a year--and then came back. My PCP referred me to a neurologist in 1997. He prescrived Verapamil, Elavil, and Zomig prn(a wonder drug, almost). I stopped all the meds (I was stupid), the headcahes never went away, but were only 30% as bad when I was on the meds. Last week, he re-started me on Varapamil, Elavil, had me take Vioxx for eight days, and I have Zomig prn. The Vioxx made me so depressed (a known side efefct), but gues what: I had no headaches then! No headaches for 5 days. Then, when I stopped the Vioxx (the neurologist only had me take 8 days worth to give me a head start until the Verapamil and Elavil start working)--when I stopped the Vioxx, the ehadaches came back. Every night with the headaches for past week, and yesterday I had attacks 4 times through the night (I usually have only one). Now, I am ok, no headache and it is 9:38 pm. I am trying to just relax. also, today I bough Ginkgo Biloba and took 2 doses already. I was hit on the head by a ceiling fan 1 year before onset of CH, but neurologist does not think this is the problem. I have many questions: Do I need sinus treatment given the past abnormal CT of sinus (I get stuffed up for about 25% of episodes)? Should I ask neurologist to consider continuing Vioxx daily (I could take smaller dose due to depression side effect and maybe I will tolerate it eventually)? Any other suggestions or comments about my post?
