I have had clusters since 1969. About 16 years ago, a doctor perscribed Bellergal and Inderol. I take it for three months (the length of my seige) and that combination completely stops the clusters. This year, my primary care dr. decided I should see a neurologist. The neurologist said he felt, at my age (60), bellergal was not a good choice because of stress to the heart. I am so in fear of the clusters, I have ignored his advice. I have cut back from 2 pill daily to
1 1/2 daily. I am nearing the end of my seige, and will slowly work off it. The neurologist ask me to contact him if and when another seige begins to try some of the newer medications. I told him I was unwilling to wait 6 weeks to see him. He told me his staff knows clusters are an emergency and if they could not work me in within 48 hours they would make arrangements for me to meet him in the ER.
Good luck and good health.
