In 1972 when was in my early 20's I had a severe panic attach. It came out of nowhere. After a trip to the hospital and a shot of some sort of strong relaxent, the folowing days were unexplainable. I couldn't (didn't want to) talk with anyone, thoughts of going crazy, losing controll and suicide were my constant companions. The doctor I was seeing prescribed 10mg of Diazopam. Severe depression folowed. I couldn't go out or go to work or meet with anyone.
I finally went back to the doctor that brought me into this world and was my old familly doctor. I explained that my stomach became upset or felt stange and then all these other emotions came out. He prescribed one bellergal twice daily and cut my diazopam back to 5mg.
It was like something I can't explain. All emotion subsided and I felt like myself once again. That was within one hour of taking my first bellergal. I phoned my doctor and asked him what kind of tranquilizer was it he had prescribed because all the bad feelinigs and thoughts had gone away.
The doctor told me that bellergal was not a tranquilizer but put simply an "equilizer" that stopped the flow of a cemical imbalance that I was suffering from.
29 years later I take 1 bellergal daily. Without Bellergal I would shurly have done myself in. About 3 years ago the company stopped manufacturing the little pink lifesaver and substituted a Bellergal spacetab. I thank the stars that the spacetab worked much the same as the pill did.
I have explained this event on numerous occassions to a number of doctors. They seem to not believe it, but go alng with it. When I fired the doctor who prescribed the 10mg of diazopan my family doctor asked if he was ayoung doctor because Bellergal had been around long before that doctor and most new doctors would not appreciate that Bellergal works the way it does.
This story is submitted for info only. I can offer no explanation for my attacks or the subsequent terrible feelings Bellergal relieved me from....
