This site was instrumental to me. For the first time I read about others who felt as hopeless as I did.
I'll get to the point. In 1998 I shot myself because I was in so much pain from leftsided chronic cluster
headaches. Nobody believed I was in so much unexplainable pain to do something like that. I was locked up
in a behavrial center and treated for phsychatric problems????, not clusterheadaches. I nor any
doctors had heard of clusterheadaches. It is even hard for me to still talk about my past suffering. But
last year in June, I found two doctors in Houston, Texas who have dedicated their lives to treating people
who suffer from cluster headaches.
A neurosurgeon named Wayne Hurt(no joke) and Dr. Nina Matthews. Dr Hurt developed and perfected Trigeminal Neuralgia
Radiofrequency Surgery. It took me several trips from California before I and the doctors agreed this surgery was
for me. In June I had the surgery. It took 5hrs and I walked out of the hospital the next day. I have been pain free!!!!!! and I
will never have pain again. This is no joke!!!! I literally would have given my left arm and everything I owned
to just have relief. Basicaly the doctor burned out the main sensory nerve in the left side of my brain. I have no
feeling now in the left side of my face. Does that sound drastic!! It was the best damn thing I have everdone and I would
do it a million times over. The surgery was almost painless, I was awake and I couldn't believe his office was not crawling wall to wall with people begging
for help. I was his 120th patient for this surgery in 20 years. The succuss rate!! Call any of his patients. He was the most
humble, gentle kind man I have ever met in the medical field. He is respected world wide and trained and work under one of the leading fathers of Neurosurgery.
