Lithium is used to balance the mood swings of manic/depressive people, in theory you are supposed to not have any high's or low's just stay nice and even and zombied out in the middle without the personality trait to change your mood, that is not the affect it had on me, I did seem to suffer a rather rare and bizzar side affect in that it almost distroyed my short term memory, I could remember any number from anywhere but could not tell you what my name was or if I had talked to you 5 minutes prior, this eventually wore off and I returned to almost normal, I still have short term memory problems but they are not as prolific as when I was taking the stuff 25 years ago.
