Two weeks ago my husband started a cluster cycle after a two year remission. He has had clusters for about 20 years, but the last three or four cycles each came after a two year remission. I looked on this website and read about verapamil and asked his doctor to phone in a prescription for him. He immediately started taking the drug, and 8 days later, has had only one headache since (he was working out and oxygen was able to knock it off in 8 minutes). He said that a couple of times he felt a headache was coming on, but it never materialized. Usually, his cycles last 2-3 months, 3-6 headaches daily (usually at night), and the most painful ones are at the end of his cycle. Oxygen is usually effective, but he suffers a great deal during this period. He cannot believe that he is not in a full-blown cycle. Has anyone had similar luck with verapamil, and how long did they take it? Should he continue to take it for as long as the cycle usually lasts? Does it work every time? Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks Laura
