Been a long while since I posted anything. I'm glad to see so many familiar faces still posting, seem to have so little free time to do much of anything anymore, what with work, kids in school, hobbies, and the CH.
I'm still chronic, two solid years without so much as a day's break right now. Underwent gamma knife surgery back in June, am just hoping and praying for it to bring some relief at some point. Have been visiting a pain management doc for the last few months; I'm not wild about his ideas regarding my CH (causes, symptoms, meds that work, etc.), but at least he's prescribing meds that help for now.
The pain mgmt doc has decided that Dr. Neil Raskin (yes, THE Dr. Raskin) is wrong with his diagnosis of CH. Instead, my hobby of skydiving has caused me to have headaches which are really coming from my neck, due to all the hard landings I obviously must be having. When pointed out that the CH started over 6 months BEFORE I started skydiving, he shrugs it off as being close enough in time as to be the root cause of it. Also, they cannot be CH, because the fact that they hit at regular times every day (a main trait of CH) is not a trait he considers part of CH. Oh well, at least he prescribes meds that work, it's a means to an end.
I hope you are all well, it has been a while since I talked to many of you. I still think of you, and know that there are others out there who understand how I am feeling when I am in the ER with the pain hitting a 10, banging my head against the wall, sweat dripping off me, pacing around the room, while some idiot nurse decides I'm faking it and takes the guy with the runny nose first.
Good luck, blue skies, and PFNAD,
Todd Owen
