at my previous dosage of 240 ER (extended release)/day. Ten years ago, I started on 120 mgs./day and it worked for about three years, then had another milder cluster period and my doc upped it to 240 mgs/day. which has worked for the last 7 with only mild breakthroughs during fall. That is, until about 2 weeks ago when all hell broke loose. I begged my current physician practice to up me again (they didn't want to) to 480, which is the point where I ended-up in the ER with the worst heaache of my life/ The ER doc, who used to be my primary care physician (who has since gone to emergency medicine full-time) attributed the atypical (and incredibly painful) headache to a type of rebound from Verapamil, given that it is a vasodilator and most of the other drugs I'm taking, including O2, are vasoconstrictors - hence the pain from the "battle for supremacy." Thanks Dick. PFDAN's to ya.
