I have been suffering from CH's three years this
month. The only thing I've found that effectivly
aborts CH's is a combination of Stadol NS (Nasal
Spray) and Imitrex (Injection-ideally or Nasal
Spay). The problem with the Vicodan is the rate
of absorbtion is too slow to do any good.
The Stadol is only a class IV narcotic (same as
codiene, vicodan etc. {I think]), but because
it's a nasal spray it gets into the blood stream
within 5-10 minutes. I have found that if you
havent reversed the pain within 15-20 minutes you
will have to ride out the headache (no amount of
medication will work). I have found that speed
is of the essence (I mean seconds count)to
effectively abort a cluster headache. If you are
too slow with the Imitrex and Stadol combinition
even they will not help. Hope this helps.
