Folks,
Been a while since I've been here. I have had about a year and a half break. But, as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Woke up the other night with an 8 or so. I was dying. Dying!!!
Anyway, I had maxalt and some lone pain killers, but decided to hot-foot it anyway to my doc and here is what he did...
He said that there has been some good reserach lately on a drug called Neurontin and its working on clusters. 300 mg 3 X per day.
I am here to tell you that this stuff stopped my latest attacks DEAD!!! DEAD!!!!!!
Bad thing is you feel a bit "spongy", but it wears off after a while.
Note too that this drug was designed to treat seizures for folks with epilepsy. I understand, though, that there may be some relation between seizures and CHs. There is a term called "kindling" (I hope I spelled that right). In a nutshell, your brain teaches itself to react and act certain ways. It gives itself patterns, etc. and acts upon them... That is why it is seizes and that is why, at times, you can set your watch to a cluster headache. Does this makes sense?
Anyway, I think that this neurontin may work on breaking that pattern.
Does anyone else have any info on this drug? I tell you that I am ECSTATIC about it!!
Thoughts?
