I know exactly how you feel DB. My hubby right now
is rocking backwards and forwards on the side of the bed
with tears pouring down his face. He has suffered with
these rotten headaches for seven years now and I still
feel completely helpless when he gets them. About the most
I can do for him is get him a cup of tea or a cold pack or
a hot water bottle, I can do nothing else. But the most frustrating
thing about these clusters is that it has taken seven years of
going to countless doctors and dentists (he had all his wisdom teeth out,
hoping they were being caused by them and they would finally end) only to
finally come upon a doctor who cared enough about her patient and knew
straight away what was wrong with him. Hubby has been diagnosed with everything
from "a bit of a headache" to "high blood pressure". And after seven years
of going to assholes, we have finally found a doctor who gave him a sample nasal
inhalant that stopped his attack within 10 minutes! It was like a revelation.
Unfortunately, she only gave him a sample to try out to see if it was effective, now we
have to wait till Monday for him to see her again. Consequently, he is suffering
with an attack right now.
For a wife or any loved one, it is an awful experience feeling so helpless while the person
you love is suffering so badly. I also have had endless outings cancelled at the last minute
because he has an attack coming on. And nothing seems to ease them. I am hoping after his
visit with the doctor on Monday that she will give him something he can use to get some
relief.
I have a very low opinion of doctors at the best of times, as I also suffered from a quite painful
condition that was misdiagnosed for 20 years before somebody finally tested me for the right conditions
and found I had Grave's Disease. Now, following treatment, I am 100%. But it has left a bitter taste
in my mouth for the medical profession.
However, hopefully we have found a doctor who cares enough for her patient to actually DO SOMETHING
for his condition. I pray we have, because I can't take the grief these rotten clusters cause any
longer.
I know how you feel, I hope your husband (as well as my own) soon get the medicine they need for some
relief from this distressing condition.
