Here's what we know from this study:
Administration of nitroglycerin to clusterheads in cycle triggers the onset of an attack.
Administration of nitroglycerin to clusterheads in cycle causes activation in the hypothalmus.
Neither of these things are seen in non-clusterheads or clusterheads not in cycle.
This gives us hope that there is a causal relationship between the two events, but as the actual cause/effect has yet to be determined, we cannot conclude this as of yet.
Simple question to ascertain this - does the hypo activation cause the cluster or does the cluster cause the hypo activation? Or, is there some still unknown pathology that causes both events simultaneously buy independently?
Remember, I just said that the Goadsby et al theory is only that - still a theory. I didn't say it's wrong - just not yet proven.
