I was at my pain clinic and we looked into surgery as a posibility. The Dr. had me wait in the office for an attack and when it came He put long cotton swabs (like Qtips) down my nose close to nerve to deaden it and see if the pain subsided he used cocaine for a local anesthetic, unfortunatley it didn't do much , must have looked wild as he put about 8 Swabs way down my nose loaded with the stuff. After an hour or so he gave me a strong pain killer and figured that deadening that nerve was not an option. As far as I know cocaine was used for local nerve blocking, just like marcaine or lydocain, it is just stronger. I have never heard of using it for it's effects on the brain. However I have heard of using Riddlin for clusters and I am now trying a similar stimulant to see if it changes brain activity for the better,. Guess what ? It seemed to be the final adjustment to my methadone treatment to lower my attacks from 6 or so a week to maybe 1 or 2. Thanks MikeL
