I agree with Jeff - shop around until you find the "right" doc. Interview them BEFORE you pay them. Right now you probably know more about clusters than 90% of the docs. Don't be shy about telling THEM what's wrong and what you need to help you. The squeeky wheel usually gets the oil.
I went through about 15 (most "headache" specialists) before I found one that didn't ask me how the pain felt. When I asked him why he didn't want to know, he replied, "I know how it feels - it hurts like hell!" He had migraines and his associate had clusters. I almost hugged him - in fact I did later (after the damn HA passed). He's always been willing to try new drugs - in fact he's called me before I found out about a few. He reads all the ACHE and NHF lit. and has "actually" even visited this webpage.
But you have to be strong and talk to the docs like they are people (they really are). They don't always know what works best for "YOU".
