Lars - so much of what you wrote is what I expeerience, I thought
I wrote it, but didn't remember changing my name to Lars. I'm so
sorry that the suffering you endure gives me some comfort, so allow
me to offer you some back in at least knowing you are not experiencing
something no one else can relate to. I can share the details in an e-mail
if that would have meaning to you.
As for Imitrex, about 3-4 years ago I was to go on vacation. The closer
the time came, the more bumbed I got, 'cuz I was having CH's (I personally
call 'em CF's, for cluster fucks). I had heard about this shot you could
take if you got migraines. I asked my doc if it would work for me. She
said they didn't really know but that I could try it (the first shot
has to be controlled in case you react badly to it.) I tried it. It
worked. I went on my vacation. It happened to be the hico of Colorado.
A friend and I wanted to climb some 14-ers. I could NEVER have even
considered attempting such a task without something to deal with the CH
(btw, these were not technical climbs, just arduous ones of many miles
and altitude gain.) I ended up taking shots on 3 14-ers. The shots work
for me every time. Now that I understand how the nasal spray works
relative timing and my CH, I can rely on the spray and avoid the shot.
Tabs are not nearly as quick. Recently, my doc said something about
Imitrex now being approved for CH. Whatever that means - maybe it's
related to insurance - I and many others know how well Imitrex works
on CH; and therein may lay a problem for some: trying not to take too
much of it. No one wants a heart attack.
