applied to the nostrils, O2 from an oxygen concentrator, and either an ice or heating pad are about the only treatments I think can be safely suggested, the rest have to be monitored by a doctor and some that may help one person may equally kill another. I don't care for O2 tanks from an oxygen supply house, no santitation requirements are met and almost met my maker with a bad tank of God knows what was put in there, and this was from a medical supply house. If your dad smokes in the house, encourage him to smoke outside, secondary smoke can be a nasty trigger even for a smoker.
