prednisone for me when it used to work would kick in after a few short hours but when the tapering dose is gone the clusters return. It doesnt always work, more time not but it's worth a try. During his attacks as much as you feel a need to help and comfort him the best thing you can do for him is just stay out of his way. He doesnt want to be seen in that way, just let him tough it out and then be there for him when the head ache is gone.
