Cycle - does it end abruptly or gradually?

I'm in the middle of my first Cluster cycle - it's 8 weeks tomorrow. I had two HA free days and I thought it might be over. But I had two attacks yesterday and 1 so far today.
This is down from 5 attacks a day, so I am definitely grateful for that! But does a cycle typically stop abruptly or is it gradual?
Any experiences anyone can share would be appreciated.
