this makes a lot of sense = at least as another coping technique
long ago I worked out a half-assed, do it yourself similar approach, in which I "separate" myself from the pain qualtitatively, and try to see it as something in the same space, but not actually part of me
then I do all sorts of really weird, eccentric mental exercise things to distract myself from the pain that is temporarily sharing my space
it works - varying effectiveness, but enough to keep doing it whenever possible, in addition to meds, o2, etc
my own belief has come to be to constantly work on making my CH situation BETTER, not worrying about getting rid of it altogether
that way any reduction of pain, or easing of the overall problem is a TRIUMPH, and that in turn makes a better life for me . . . especially when I can back off & see what a BIG improvement all those little gains add up to
if I concentrate on the "magic bullet, all or none, cure this forever" quest - - then I have a string of defeats and disappointments that only increases the misery
they say the good is the enemy of the best,
and that's probably true in discussions where a single finite question is involved - but I think maybe the best is gained by accumulating little bits of the best, in something still as mysterious and varietal as CH
