In a previous post, JoeS asked about a sleep apnea/cluster headache connection. I think the jury is still out, but since Lee was getting most of his attacks overnight, especially 1-2 hours after going to sleep, we asked if a sleep disorder could be triggering them. We had a consult with Lee's pulmonary specialist (who runs the sleep clinic) about going through a sleep study. Upon hearing about Lee's recent CHs, the doctor went into another office and came back to show us an article he'd just read about the sleep apnea/CH connection. We were gratified that there are doctors out there paying attention to cluster headaches. Anyway, Lee is going through the sleep study in early March (earliest they could get him in). I'll keep you posted. The doctor feels there is a very strong possibility Lee has the sleep apnea. I know there's lots of theories about there, but the more we learn, the closer we come preventing them, or better yet, curing them...what a wonderful day that would be!
