Since '73 had episodic CH till '80 having gone through every concievable medicine regimen possible to no avail.
They then turned to chronic in '82. All type's of block's plus hisimine desensitisation. Lithium, verapamil and ergotomine protocal.Sansert,Inderal,Depakote, DHE-45 Injections at home.As I said, tried everything including having my teeth pulled on the suggestion that it may be TMJ; Not!!
IN '86 went to headache clinic in Houston,TX where after many repeated regimens wre tried over the next 6 years until it was apparent that surgery was the only option left.At the time the success rate was, according to surgeon an 88 to 92% success rate. Went for it. Sixteen months later I was having same procedure done again. I got a whopping 7 day's relief from second try.After this surg the doc sent me to a pain clinic in '94. After reviewing operative reports etc. decided a treatment of starting with 160mgs of methadone and for acute attacks morphine sulfate IM at home.
After finding out what this does to your body/mind had another Dr. start reducing amounts of the methadone and i abandoned the morphine myself,it was not only outragous but was of no help.
Now taking 20mgs. methadone daily, 10meq K-DUR once daily (potassium supplement for the methadone)and 7 mgs of Xanax daily.This is a short CH resume, so to speak.
Any ideas or help of any kind PLEASE!!!!!
