I live in a very small town and know my pharmicist (he lives up the street), so he's seen me in the middle of these things. Any time something new comes out, I'm the first call he makes, then he calls my doctor and fills the scrip. I've "abused" Cafagot for years, but I've never had him question it - it beat hurting.
Maybe your guy was trying to be helpful, but I've never heard of demrol "breaking" the cycle. DHE yes, but Narcs no. They just cover it up.
