...Lou Gehrig, today, I feel that I am the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.
It's Christmas morning of my 64th year, which means I have survived long enough to appreciate the wealth of living. My beautiful wife is upstairs in the kitchen baking pies and bread from her grandmother's receipes. A 500-light tree hovers over about a million dollars worth of gifts for grandchildren. I didn't die in Vietnam. I wrote a book. I learned about art, music and poetry. I finally understand the lessons taught to me by a loving grandmother. I am in remission from cluster attacks. I have a glass of 12-year old bourbon sitting next to my laptop mouse. Excuse me, have to take a sip. I have received emails of season's greetings from friends all over the world. I know, and count among my friends, the best people on this blue marble. To Jonny, Elaine, Todd, Drummer, Jack, Sailpappy, Alane, Jayne, TerryS, Ted, Marie, Hub, BobP, Christine, Ernie, Jackie, Margi, Nancy, Riccardo, Simon, Frigid Butt, Piper, Pinksharkmark, Dennis, Mellissa, Cheryl, CharlieS, and DJ, thank you for finding me and showing me the way. To all the others that I didn't name, blame it on my failing memory. I am an old fart, you know.
