I'm no doctor, nor do i claim to know anything about melatonin and its effects, But what i would do in your shoes is do not quit cold turkey because it may throw your body for a loop and it may trigger a whole new cycle. I would slowly cut back over a period of the two weeks that you would normaly have left in your cycle,that way it won't be a shock to your system, and nobody wants to do something that could maybe,(maybe not) bring the monster back. Play it safe take no chances. congrats on the early release of your sentence. Hope this helps.
