Barbara, I think this is a very timely message for you to post. I'm sure all of the sufferers here have considered suicide as the only viable option at some point or another in their struggles and it can only help to bring this out in the open, to let each other know they are not alone.
I am the wife of a sufferer and I have heard my husband beg me to go get him a knife (we're in Canada, guns are a no-no) so that he could end this horrible crap that he goes through. Of course I could never ever do that for him but I sure understood where he was coming from.
I guess my point is this: Good for you, Barbara, for bringing this subject out into the open. We all need to know that we are not alone and I don't know if you were here around Christmas but I know Lee M from Tulsa will remember.....I think we lost someone and we all tried to find him/her but I think the beast won.....(in our desperation some of us thought it might be Lee and we inundated the poor guy with e-mail until he was ready to scream - once again, Lee - our apologies). Maybe, just maybe, if this subject had been discussed back then it may have made a difference. Sadly, we will never know.
Anyways, just another vote of confidence for your insight in bringing this up.

p.s. although I don't think we've ever directly spoken, I've been pulling for you all the way wishing you a successful surgery.....couldn't happen to a nicer gal. Hope it continues to be your answer and that you stay pain free. But hey, even if you are pain free for the rest of your life.....don't forget that you are a treasured member (or shall we say Graduate?) of the Clusterheads and that we all continue to need your input here.
