Just a note for you all concerning treatment and Doctors.
I went to see a Neurologist concerning these CH. He said that what my original Dr was doing was all wrong, and put me on Verapamil 320mg/day and Predisone 60mg/day. The headaches went from one or two a day to five and six a day. Oxygen & Imitrex stopped working. I was in total pain for 6 days. The Neurologist's comment? "Well, you can't expect this to work right away, it may take weeks or months!" "Dr., what do I do in the meantime? I have to work." "Well, you'll just have to live through it and make the best of it!"
Exit one Dr., back to my original one. He put me back on Ercaf, Oxygen and Imitrex for the breakthroughs. My head cleared up within 8 hours, feeling somewhat normal again. The only thing we're going to try is Lidocaine nasal to see if that might take the place of the Imitrex.
Moral? If you have a Dr. that's helping you, stay with them and work with them. This thing can't be cured (yet!) but the treatments can help with the pain, as long as the Dr. is sensitive to what your going through.
