I understand the misery. What I've found works
best for me is "Tussin", Excedrin, and saline
nose spray. Take 2x what the bottles say to take,
and drink a carbonated soda with the medicine.(bubbles speed up the relief)
Clean the nasal passages several times with
the saline spray. Then stand in the shower and
let the warmest water hit your head and in the
nose. Breathe in the steamy air. Then go to bed
with a heating pad; laying it on the affected
areas, for as long as you can stand. Turn until
you find the position for the "junk" to drain.
Massage the area as well. Then go to sleep if you
can. You may wake up coughing up the drainage, but
that is the cause of the problem. I hope this helps. The trick is to thin that mucus with Tussin so it can drain. Most of the over the counter meds try to dry you out instead of thinning the drainage.
