Oh I know all to well how you feel, I found this site a little over a year ago and was in about the same shape as you ready to give up. I sure am glad I did not give up. I am or was chronic for 20 years. Doctors didn’t help and I could find no information on Clusters. All I got from doctors was there is no cure, witch gave me no hope. I also felt guilty abut my family my kids have had to deal with my clusters all their life. I came here, and found many people who knew my pain, with help from them and all the information found here I found a doctor who understood clusters and the right medication for my clusters, it took a lot of work and reading and asking for advice before I found the right answer for me. Not all drugs work for every cluster head so it’s a trail by error thing. I also found I had to help my doctor some by looking into new things. I took a list of drugs used here and we picked three, we worked on the dose up and down for a year. I finally found what worked and I am no longer chronic. I still have clusters but not everyday and I have found that there is life out there. I found out I have nothing to feel guilty for its not my fault I have clusters. I also learned how to deal better with the pain.
Just because I am in pain does not give me the right to be mean or rude to my supporters. My supporter also has no right to be rude or mean to me because my cluster interfere with plans ect… I have found that just telling my supporter what I need from them has eased their pain and mine. They feel needed and not left out and I feel like I am not abandoned. We all have to give and take met in the middle so to speak.
I am so glad I did not give up. Fighting the demon is hard but you know what we can win if we work hard and stick with it never ever to give up. Let me ask you something if your wife had clusters and you didn’t and you traded places would you want her to feel like you would be better off with out her. How would you feel if she just gave up?
