It's early in the morning and I'm tired as hell, so I'm not really concerned with pharmaceutical technicalities here. i've seen quite a bit of questions and comments about prednisone on the last few pages of the board, and this tends to distress me, since my experience with prednisone has been bad bad bad.
I know of one friend, also a clusterhead, who's been on prednisone so long he's now dependant on it.
The warnings about prednisone are correct, and to add, prednisone should not be combined with certain other drugs to treat CH ( as far as I'm concerned ), yet this is often what happens. The results of predinson+? cocktails can be disasterous, and while I know that some of us will accept what is promising as far as treatment goes, I would just like to say to everyone and anyone, AVOID THIS DRUG IF YOU CAN. The risks and side-effects of this stuff are more for me at least that I should think they are worth when it comes to my general well being. If prednisone is in your list of medications, keep it at the bottom of the list and search out all the alternatives before you allow this standard CH treatment, definative or experimental, to be prescribed-And if anything is ever mentioned to you about calan and pred, or sansert and pred, or nortriptaline and pred, consider very strongly the good sense of the doctor who wishes to prescribe such combinations.
