I am a kaiser patient so oxygen is not paid for. I get it myself and it's actually not that expensive. The tank rents for $3.50 a month, I bought a regulator...(a bit expensive...$100.oo plus)...then it's just about $10 bucks a refill. A tank is 2400 lbs...I use about 200 to 400 per attack. I use oxygen and take 2 cafergot at the onset and am usually pain free in ten to fifteen minutes. I am episodic and when on cycle take 1200 mg lithium a day. The lithium seems to stop 80 to 90 percent and the oxygen and cafergot take care of the rest. Has been working so well I haven't tried any of the newer tuff, stadol, imitrex etc. I did try prednisone once. It will provide 100% relief for most but the side affects are pretty drastic and can have some real long term nasty affects. (I know when you are in the middle of a kip 9 you don;t give a flying %^&&$ about side affects but they are pretty bad!!!) I hope some of this helps if not there are a hundred other people here who have something new for you to try tha might help. Good luck and pain free days to you.
