Unless you have some condition which prohibits the use of Imitrex you should give it or Amerge a try. They work for a great number of us.
Are you using the oxygen correctly - it makes a difference how many liters per minute and having a non-rebreather mask. Ask about these things.
And, believe me, I know what you mean about the neurologist appointment taking time. I had the same problem, then to make matters a lot worse he would not give me any medication except Verapamil
until I had an MRI, blood tests, chest x-ray and a carotid artery scan. I got my medication on the last day of my cycle.
I hounded his office, made a trip to the emergency room (where I asked for Imitrex and GOT it), and finally simply stood over him and his prescription pad and demanded a prescription for Imitrex. I told him I just could not last any longer.
Needless to say I went to a different neuro the next year.
There are so many horror stories about the experiences of CH patients. I doubt even a neurologist really knows how we feel unless that doctor has had CH. CH is an emergency in my opinion and should be treated as such.
It takes about 5 minutes to see a CH patient and start some medication.
That is why O.U.C.H. exists - to make people aware of the agonizing pain we suffer.
