we have our facts correct?
Tom and drummer and others make some very good points in this thread, and express some honest opinions.
BUT-
My research, which I admit may well be flawed, indicates that Dr. Goadsby's research is funded by The Wellcome Trust, not Glaxo/Wellcome.
Here's an excerpt from the Wellcome Trust FAQs:
"1. What is the relationship between the Wellcome Trust and Glaxo Wellcome?
The Wellcome Trust and Glaxo Wellcome are entirely independent of each other. The Wellcome Trust is an endowed charity, Glaxo Wellcome plc a pharmaceutical company. The two organizations share a historical link to the Wellcome Trust's founder, Sir Henry Wellcome (1853-1936). Sir Henry Wellcome established a pharmaceutical company known first as Burroughs Wellcome & Co. and later The Wellcome Foundation Ltd. On his death, he decreed that the entire share capital of this company should be vested in Trustees. The Trust remained sole shareholder of The Wellcome Foundation Ltd until a series of asset diversifications in the 1990s, which culminated in the sale of the Wellcome company to Glaxo. The Trust maintains a 4.7 per cent stake in Glaxo Wellcome."
I've included a link below to the Wellcome Trust FAQs page.
