Use a dash of Cayenne to a drop or two of Vasoline or other cream or ointment. Mix it and rub it inside the nostril on the side of the pain.
It is most effective when you also rub it on the outside of the same nostril and, in my case, along the temple and forehead. It should be rubbed in well.

Some people think this might be uncomfortable.

Well, it sometimes is.

But if you are having a cluster headache, there is no comparison between the two. When people say they can't imagine using Cayenne Pepper despite the studies which show that it works, I wonder if they are really having CH's.

Again, it might not work the first couple of times (especially if you are doing a lot of meds which produce rebounds) but the clinical studies reported by Reader's Digest show an 85% success rate in ALL cases of CH. What TRUE Clusterhead would discount it just because it "seems too drastic"?

How can it be more drastic than a Cluster Headache, for god's sake?
