It's because you're talking to a professional here. I am a translator of (mainly) science fiction and fantasy, (fantascienza) and some absurd children's books, from English into Dutch.
I also write and am a book critic. Keeps one on one's toes.
Unfortunately I am best at British English and so a lot of the charming hate mail that went across this board recently is very hard for me to understand (in both senses I must add).
In that respect you know much more than I do. Oh, and I am sure your nose is an absolutely lovely shade of brown...
