I was diagnosed with having CH when I was about 19, in college. I
had been getting them since the age of 16 or so, but my
family doctor always said that I was just having chronic
sinus infections. Anyhow, I went to a neurologist and
he prescribed a tablet that I was to dissolve under my
tongue when a headache came on. This didnt work and it
made me nauseous. So, I put up with the headaches for
about another year. Then, for other reasons, I went on
oral contraceptives and I didn't really put 2 and 2 together
until I decided not to take the oral contraceptives
anymore and the headaches came on as soon as I stopped
taking them. I immediately went back on them and I haven't
had a CH since, except for small ones during the week
that the oral contraceptives are just placebo pills. I
didn't ever get a medical reason for the oral contraceptives
working, I was just happy that I wasn't getting the
headaches anymore. Does anyone out there have any
explanation for this or reason why the oral contraceptives
help the headaches?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dianne
