Derek -- If you are looking to medicate the pain in addition to breaking the cluster, talk to your doctor about Imitrex. The best form, for me at least is the injection. For me & I don't know if it would work the same for you, it takes the pain away in about 5 to 10 minutes. It is cost prohibitive if you don't have health insurance (about $40 per shot) & you do have to stick a needle in your arm. I've found however, that the pain of the shot is minimal to the pain of the attack. I actually start to feel better when I feel the pin-prick as I know the medication will start working soon.
