Can't get off Prednisone

My husband is on the 3rd round of prednisone. After he stops taking it, the headaches return. He uses Imitrex for "in between". I believe I read where someone took 1 pill a day or something like that, until the series stopped.

Any suggestions. How long can one take Prednisone. He has no side effects.
