Just a few questions to think about.
If WE don't educate people about ch, who will?
Who else can?
Who else cares?
Who else knows?
I used to be a 'hider' also, but last cycle, just a few months after starting a new job, I 'came clean' to my associates. Sat them down and explained everything I know about clusters, how they effect me, how long my cycles last, what they could expect and where/when I wouldn't be able to hold up my end of the work bargain.
They listened, sympathized, DIDN'T give me any 'oh yeah, my sister's uncle's brother-in-law's kid has that'. For the next 10 weeks they picked up my slack when I was late getting to work (the demon loves to visit 15 minutes after I wake up), and when I took my 10:30 Imitrex break.
Now, I've told everyone I'm close to (family, friends, etc). Almost all understand. Most try to help. I get a constant influx of newspaper and magazine articles about migraines and headaches in general. Always with the same cover note "I know you don't have _____headaches (fill in the blank with the topic of the article), but thought there might be something here that could help"
Don't think there's much that can be done about this topic in Vegas next August. Everyone there is already an expert on clusters. It's the rest of the world we need to educate.
