I'll never forget that phone call late one night...it was from Elaine...I had heard about her and seen her posts, but that was all(this was during my worst times). She had been on her trip around the country to meet all the CHers she could and had just gotten back...What did she do? Well, she didn't get some much needed rest that she really should have done, instead she found out how bad I was and called to check on me.
In our conversation that night she told me she was fixing to go on another trip and I asked where she was going this time, her response was to come up to see me...I couldn't believe it....Here she was tired and worn out, just found out about the cancer and she is going to come see me!!!How unselfish of her...Well, as most of you know she didn't come up here, Claudette came from MO to see me and we had a mini-connection at Elaine's house in Atlanta. Kip and Judy drove up from Florida and that is one experience I will never, ever forget...Elaine really cares for each one of us and will do anything to help out...I was a complete stranger and brand new to the board, yet she had heard of all my problems with the "demon" and couldn't resist reaching out her hand to help me...No words could explain how that felt to me during one of my lowest points with this blasted illness and curse...
Thank you Elaine from the bottom of my heart. If there is anything I can do, please call me..
Elaine's girls are real special and I know they are taking very good care of their mother, but sometimes other family members can help in a different way....that is where the CH Family come's in....Keep us in mind...
