I am a Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania (CPH) sufferer and have been for 13 years. My husband and I have recently decided to start a family and my neurologist (and OB/GYN)both agree that I cannot take my Indomethacin while trying to conceive or during pregnancy. What's worse, the OB/GYN even said stay away from the Advil if possible. I read that clusters tend to cease during pregnancy in women, but I don't know how long it will take to conceive and I don't know how long I can stand it without my drugs! Since my condition is "chronic," rarely does a day go by that I don't experience some pain. What really concerns me is when the headaches will become severe (and they will eventually).
My OB/GYN said that Indomethacin is much too strong a drug to take when pregnant (or when trying) and could cause damage to a fetus's heart. I wonder if any of the other women have faced this dilemma. I tried oxygen several years ago with no results. Trying to get pregnant should be more fun than this.
